Barcelona to Host First Game at Upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday

Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou on Saturday. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in La Liga over two years following their departure to allow renovations to start.

“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity with 45,401 fans will be allowed to watch based on approved permits. When completed, the Camp Nou is due to hold almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. Barça announced finished work included an updated entryway for the team along with upgraded changing facilities.

Stadium Testing

Barça organized a public practice inside the stadium earlier this month. They mentioned approval is being pursued from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt on 9 December at the stadium. They have been hosting matches at the Olympic Stadium.
