More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community persist in remembering the duo.
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt able to share openly about his profound loss.
"Enough time has gone by that I can finally express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the movie, commenting that he cannot recall "one day without joy".
"The film is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
In a separate essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese noted.
This week, a Los Angeles court official decided to prevent the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the LAPD.
A court order placed a embargo on the cases to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" connected to the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the result of foul play, with a record citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
After the deaths, public personalities offered different comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing provocative remarks that were broadly criticized by many commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the critics recently. Talking on his show, Rogan characterized the comments as "disturbing" and implied they revealed a concerning lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by suggesting that an aide should have acted when the decision to weigh in on the passing was made.
